Plan to come in at least 2 weeks before your trip. Most vaccinations will take this amount of time or more to become fully effective. Some vaccines take 6 months to complete. So, the earlier you come in, the better prepared you will be.
There are no restrictions for food, beverages, or activities prior to or after your appointment. You are in fact encouraged to eat and drink before you come.
Please bring with you:
- your completed patient assessment form (available here )
- your international certificate of vaccine (yellow card) if you have one
- your medical information (diagnoses, allergies, medications)
- list of your prior immunizations with dates
- your travel itinerary (destinations and dates)
There are no physical exams, laboratory studies, or x-rays included in the consultation. The components of the appointment are 1) a review of your medical history, 2) provision of general and itinerary specific travel health information and 3) the administration of desired immunizations and necessary travel-related medications prescribed.
To save time at your appointment you may wish to review the "Vaccine Information Statements" prior to your appointment. Each vaccine that you may be considering for your trip is explained in detail.
For the consideration of other travelers and the staff we ask that you please come prepared, arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time and leave small children at home when possible.
We look forward to seeing you soon and thank you for choosing Austin Travel Shots for your travel health care needs.
